The book unravels 100 species of medicinal and aromatic plants based on the traditional knowledge (TK) of Peninsular Malaysia's 18 Orang Asli tribes' including five selected replicate tribes. It is based on the data collected through a project "Documentation of the Traditional Knowledge of the Indigenous People on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants on Peninsular Malaysia" commencing back in 2007. To date, a total of 100 out of 409 medicinal and aromatic plant species identified is highlighted in this publication leaving the remaining to ensuing publications. This publication is FRIM's pioneering effort to comprehensively document the traditional knowledge on medicinal and aromatic plants from all the 18 Orang Asli tribes in Peninsular Malaysia. Information contained herein as per acquired through interview sessions with selected household heads or representatives, and verification of recorded information of plants collected and prepared as herbarium specimens during the documentation workshops. Not only this publication provides a basis for future scientific research and refenrence for various research fields, but also assist in the effort to protect and preserve the TK inherited by the Orang Asli.
