This report presents the result of FRIM–ITTO REDDES project entitled ”Reducing Forest Degradation and Emissions through Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) in Peninsular Malaysia” funded by the International Timber Trade Organization (ITTO) and the Goverment of Malaysia. Pahang, which is the largest state and has the largest extent of forest in Peninsular Malaysia, was selected as the project area. The study focused on three major activities: (i) determination of the rate of deforestation and identification of drivers of deforestation, (ii) assessment of five carbon pools in different forests ecosystems, and (iii) development of a forest reference emission level (FREL) from deforestation. The activities and findings are compiled and presented in this report.
