Book FRIM: A National Heritage is the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) campus was gazetted as a Natural Heritage Site on the 27th of April 2009 under the National Heritage Act 2005. Later on, FRIM obtained recognition as a National Heritage under the same act on the 23rd of January 2015. FRIM was given ownership to its land on the 2nd of August 2007. The 4th of April 2012 marked another a historical event when FRIM received a permanent land title covering a new era of 544.30 ha. FRIM is the only research institution in the world to be recognised as a heritage of a country. The ownership of the land and status as a Natural Heritage and National Heritage are important in ensuring the long-term existence of the forested area in FRIM campus. The permanent area ownership ensures the efforts and innovation by the earlier generations to make FRIM a green campus will continue to be preserved and shared with the future generations. FRIM: A National Heritage provides a comprehensive view into the heart of FRIM which qualifies it as a Natural Heritage and National Heritage. Each of the 16 chapters in the book covers in-depth exploration of the campus relating to research, education, achievements, contributions to the community and future aspirations. This book also serves as FRIM’s contribution in documenting our national treasures. It is hoped that it can be a source of knowledge and guide to those who wish to know more about FRIM and its efforts towards gaining recognition as a national heritage.
