This book features photographs of sceneries and events taken at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM)'s campus in Kepong, Selangor. FRIM Through the Lenses portrays some of the best collections from the photography competitions held at FRIM from the years 2004 to 2009. Contributions by friends or commissioned photographs were added to support the flow of the book.

The book aims to highlight the natural beuty of FRIM's ground, where resources are available for recreation and education. The story of the grounds establishment is explained in Chapter 1 to take readers back in history when the areas were much less greener than today. Understanding the great efforts put into greening the areas would make us even more appreciative of what we can enjoy today.

Further chapters show how FRIM has become a haven for plants and wildlife and the natural resources have attracted many visitors. Nature education often becomes an integral component of receration.

The last chapter concludes the book with illustrations on how the grounds have been and are being enjoyed by many, often the sought-after venur for celebration events. Sharing is always a joy and children's involvement would always bring extra special moments. With the example fo FRIM's grounds that were almost barren once but have turned to green today, we should realize that with ideas, energy, preservance and support from the public, large natural areas can be-established and retained.

In today's world where humans are faced with guilt over the destruction of natural environment and processes, FRIM's grounds are good examples of how establishing a "greener" world is not an impossible task. Human can contribute positively towards conservation. Highlighting the beauty of nature throughout this book, it is the authors' wish to share the message that we are able to bring back a more natural environment for a better quality of life.
