FRIMATES: Down Memory Lane

This book is a collation of articles written by my colleagues in the Forest Research Institute (FRI) and Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) after FRI became a statutory body by an Act of Parliament in 1985. I was privileged to be appointed as FRIM's first director-general until I retired in 1995. I suggested writing this book to document what our colleagues have been doing since retirement and their memories of FRIM. I had spontaneous support from colleagues and friends, and Dr Aziah Yusof also agreed to co-author the book. We also needed to record the contributions of colleagues who had departed. I am extremely proud of the achievements of my colleagues. Some had gone and become professors at universities; others had gone into the private sector. One had emigrated to Brunei, while many had just "retired" and enjoyed their pensions with children and grandchildren. We still maintain contactwitheach other keep via the ExFRIM WhatsApp group. Above all, most had remained healthy as health is wealth.
