MSS 2999 Kitab TIB - A Modern Medical Insight into and Interpretation of a Malay Medical Manuscript

Dr Abdul Ghani Hussain is the principal consultant of Herbwalk Consultancy. He is a graduate of modern medicine from the Medical Faculty of Cairo University in Egypt. He has more than 35 years of clinical experience and 15 years of learning, understanding and utilising the knowledge in traditional Malay and Islamic medicine. He practised modern medicine for more than 30 years in Langkawi moving the people from traditional medicine to the mainstream modern medical practice. In 2000, he was humbled to look into traditional medicine when his wife became intolerant to modern medicine. Thereafter, both he and his wife, began looking into the traditional Malay medical practices. In 2006, they decided to work full time in documenting traditional Malay medicine in the hope that they would be able to guide people in the practice of more scientific-based traditional medicine. Come rain or shine, their work goes on, documenting, understanding, collecting, and caring for the knowledge in traditional Malay medicine and the materia medica that goes with it. This book is the first of many more to come about the traditional medical heritage of the Malay community of the world.

This book is an attempt at illustrating the thoughts of the traditional Malay medicine man and his crafty formulations of medicine for treating specific ailments based on the notes of the student of Malay medicine. This book interprets the disease in terms of modern medical terminology based on definitions outlined by Dr. Gimlette in his book; A Dictionary of Malayan Medicine.
