Nomenclature And Equivalent Names Of Malaysian Timbers

The present issue of Timber Technology Bulletin on Nomenclature and Equivalent Names of Malaysian Timbers is meant as a guide to the local timber market covering Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. The local or vernacular names of one particular region and their equivalent names from two other regions together with their scientific or botanical names are given. This is a useful guide in that:

• A set of standard Malaysian timber names of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak is made available
• The scientific name given to the equivalent timber name avoids confusion in the local and international markets
• A list of more then 1000 local names of timbers with their equivalent names is given
