The Rimba Bidor 2020: A Gift To Nature book is highlight the long-term efforts carried out at the Tin Tailaings Afforestation (TTAC) is one of the Forest Research Intitute Malaysia research stations that has witnessed more than two decades of research and development efforts and planning in reclamation, rehabilitation and leading to the restoration process of once barren ex-tin mine to a multi-strata man-made forest. The man-made forest comprises 133 tree species, more than 80 species of birds and 20 species of animals. The rich soil and aquatic life forms are yet to be surveyed and documentated. This pictorial exposition presents its origin, development, challenges, aethetic values and future plan to continously making TTAC to be an excellent R&D center. An ex-tin mine with specially the desert-like sand dunes, has similar physical soil properties to a deset that is void of vegetation but the slime portion has the swampy soil properties that are richer for regenaration. Both of the rehabilitation techniques have successfully turned them into forests are also presented in this pictorial record. The TTAC shall be a sustainable bio-depository in the next two decades if the on-going enrichment planting of international and national red list species continues to be added and sustainably managed. This pictorial book humbly declares the love of Malaysia in turning an unsightly wasteland seen in an ex-tin mine into a man-made forest as a gift back to the nature, a joy to behold and an invaluable inheritance for posterity.
