The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is actively involved in evaluating the suitability of proprietary anti-sapstain chemicals for temporary protection of rubberwood and other decay susceptible hardwoods in Malaysia. This is done by assessing the efficacy of potential anti-sapstain products for use in the warm humid climatic conditions of this country. Among the various requirements to satisfy the four criteria mentioned earlier, new products must also be registered with the Pesticides Act 1974.
